Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, nations are focused on handling the virus spread and ensuring the safety of the citizens. In this process, many other schemes and programs that were earlier planned, have been either sidelined or postponed. Now, when it has already been a year since the pandemic, countries are gearing up for other reforms as well.
The United Arab Emirates is leading the way to normalize things around and within it. Dubai has reassured the international forum that it is heading towards sustainable recovery from the coronavirus pandemic by making sure that all the essential guidelines are being followed.
The assurance came after His Excellency Abdullah Al-Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai and Vice-Chair of the Steering Committee, who is a part of the C40 leadership group gave confidence on Sunday.
The health services that are being offered in the country are being observed by top leadership to ensure that proper headlines are being followed while also keeping the sustainability of the tackle mechanism of the pandemic in mind. The whole procedure was guided by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The meeting was remotely organized on March 28 which saw Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization, His Excellency Al Basti was also in attendance. He stressed on Dubai's efforts of the measures that the emirate has been taking to ensure proper administration of vaccination services in the country. He also showed commitment towards the ongoing vaccination campaign in a closed-door meeting attended by the mayors of Los Angeles, Jakarta, Accra, Milan, and Phoenix.
Along with them, representatives from 16 other countries were also present. The aim of the meeting was to discuss advanced vaccination efforts in different countries, which will help in reducing the rising infection rates. The infection rates are on a rise and that has put the entire community at risk.
He explained that with the national vaccination program, the health officials have already administered more than 7.9 million vaccine doses. He noted that more than half of the entire eligible population in the nation has been vaccinated. Al Basti further explained that Dubai has been actively taking part in the COVAX initiative, which is also in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He emphasized on the logistical advantages along with the strong infrastructure that the emirate possesses and how it has been a driving factor in containing the spread of the virus in the country. The COVAX initiative is designed in a way that focuses on developing countries whose populations have been affected and are facing challenges of transportation and distribution of medical equipment.
