As the UAE's fight against the Coronavirus pandemic continues, the Dubai Health Authority on Monday announced that it has established a new medical isolation facility for positive and suspected COVID-19 cases. The authority has developed the isolation facility as a precautionary and proactive measure to tackle the virus in the city. According to a statement released by the state agency WAM, the 1,500 square metre isolation facility is a separate building located in an area close to the Rashid Hospital in Dubai city. It contains almost 25 beds, along with ICU, treatment, clinics and examination rooms, medical isolation and is equipped with facilities based on the highest international standards.
After taking a tour of the medical facility, Humaid Al Qutami, DHA Director-General said that the new isolation ward has been established to strengthen the authority’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. It will contribute to the early detection and treatment of patients who have been infected by the virus and will ensure their speedy recovery.
Al Qutami further highlighted that a prevention strategy has been put in place by the authority that takes different scenarios into consideration, assisting the DHA in taking appropriate decisions accordingly, such as establishing field hospitals or medical isolation facilities, etc.
He added that the DHA authority is taking necessary efforts to meet all the medical needs of each COVID-19 infected patient. Moreover, global response to transmission and containment of the virus is being consistently monitored by the authority in order to learn from their efforts and experience and have a better understanding of the pandemic for future initiatives. As of June 2, the UAE has over 35,000 Coronavirus confirmed cases, out of whom over 18,000 patients have recovered from the disease.
