Dubai Economy fines 24 commercial establishments, warns five for violating COVID-19 norms

The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy has been carrying out regular inspections across the emirate as part of the national efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19. On Wednesday, field inspection teams from the CCCP Sector inspected around 684 commercial establishments in open markets and shopping centres across the emirate to ensure that precautionary measures are being followed diligently to limit the spread of COVID-19.

As per a WAM report, the inspection teams fined 24 commercial establishments during the field visits over non-compliance of precautionary norms. 17 commercial establishments were fined because employees were seen without face masks, while seven others were in breach of physical distancing guidelines.

The establishments which were fined by the authorities included retail stores, a consumer complex, and few other businesses dealing in general trading activities, readymade garments, electronics, perfumes, shoes and A/C spare parts.

The field inspection teams spotted violations of precautionary norms in a number of shopping centres and a few businesses located in the areas of Al Sabkha, Al Mamzar, Muhaisnah 4, and Naif.

In addition, five other establishments received warnings from the inspection team for not placing mandatory physical distancing stickers in their stores. A total of 655 shops and commercial establishments were found in full compliance with the necessary precautionary measures during the inspection.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Economy has urged the public to cooperate in keeping the economic activities of the emirate moving forward amid the prevailing threat of the pandemic. Significantly, Dubai has gradually resumed its economic activities towards the path of growth while keeping COVID-19 precautionary guidelines in place across all sectors.

However, Dubai Economy has also that strict action will be taken against those found disregarding the precautionary measures during inspections or as reported by consumers and the public.
