The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy on Sunday inspected around 755 sites across the emirate as part of its efforts to ensure that businesses comply with the COVID-19 precautionary measures to contain the spread of the virus.
During their field visits, inspection teams of the CCCP Sector in Dubai Economy fined 18 commercial establishments over their failure to comply with the precautionary norms. These establishments included 6 businesses in the retail sector, four in textiles and fabrics, two trading in readymade garments, and one in each from mobile phones, perfumes, computers trading and electronics. Furthermore, two gyms were also penalised with the cooperation of the Dubai Sports Council over their non-compliance with the COVID-19 precautionary norms.
These business establishments, which were fined by the authorities, were located across various shopping centres, Dubai International City, Ayal Nasir, and Al-Daghaya
In addition, 16 commercial establishments were also fined by the field inspectors after their employees were found without face masks and two were fined for not adhering to adequate physical distancing measures. Field inspectors issued warnings to 12 other commercial establishments for not putting up the physical distancing stickers as mandated by the precautionary guidelines. A total of 725 commercial establishments were found to be fully complying with the precautionary measures by the authorities during the field visits.
Meanwhile, Dubai Economy has urged people to cooperate with the authorities and contribute towards keeping the emirate’s economy moving forward amid the prevailing pandemic fear. Dubai Economy has reiterated that compliance with precautionary norms is critical for everyone such that Dubai can gradually return towards safer and normal commercial activities with the reopening of businesses across all sectors. It further added that strict action will be taken against those found to be violating the precautionary norms during field inspections or as reported by consumers and the public.
