Dr Saif Al Daheri: UAE is moving confidently to contain pandemic

 Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, Official Spokesperson of the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), said during official media briefing of government to update on Covid-19 situation that the UAE is moving steadily and confidently towards containing the pandemic and also planning the recovery phase.

During the briefing, Al Dhaheri noted that National Vaccination Campaign’s success in the UAE highlights the strong health system, and affirms getting vaccinated is now ethical duty for all residents and citizens to ensure safety of community.

Al Dhaheri revealed that as of 2nd February, the total number of vaccinations has crossed 3.5 million doses, a rate of 36.04 per 100 people.

He also pointed out that though there is an increase in number of Covid-19 cases, UAE has addressed the increase through its efficient approach of handling the rapid developments. He also noted that the UAE has succeeded in providing all its tourists and visitors a safe experience. 

The country’s efforts have led to surge in vaccine demand, with national plan for vaccination aiming to vaccinate 50% of its population in the first quarter of 2021. Total number of coronavirus tests have crossed 26 million since the pandemic onset.

Al Dhaheri further added that all precautionary and preventive measures for limiting the Covid-19 infection spread, free vaccination campaign to all citizens and residents, and putting fines against people violating the protocols are all part of a detailed plan that will create a safe environment for people and ensure normalcy return.

He further stressed that getting vaccinated has become an ethical duty of all citizens and residents to ensure safety of all. He further stressed that to overcome the current health challenge it is important to have community cooperation and awareness. “The most effective way to achieve this is to take the vaccine, to ensure the safe return to normalcy,” he said.
