Does Covid-19 vaccine have impact on result of RT-PCR test?

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has dismissed floating conspiracy theory claiming getting administered with Covid-19 vaccine can result in a positive result for Covid-19.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has dismissed floating conspiracy theory claiming getting administered with Covid-19 vaccine can result in a positive result for Covid-19.

In a tweet issued recently as part of the #DHAanswers series, the authority said there was no link found between the Covid-19 vaccine and PCR test results. The WHO (World Health Organization) too explained that there is no link between vaccine and PCR test result.

“Please also be reassured that the vaccine does not cause Covid-19,” the DHA added.

In its FAQ on the Covid-19 vaccine, the WHO said vaccine won’t result in a positive result for PCR or antigen laboratory test. “This is because the tests check for active disease and not whether an individual is immune or not,” it said. However, because the vaccine triggers immune response, there is a possibility of testing positive in an antibody (serology) test, the WHO added.

Few of the questions answered in #DHAanswers series are:

Q. Can a person who is taking antidepressants get the vaccine?

A. Yes.

Q. When can I donate blood after getting the vaccine?

A. You can donate blood after seven days from first or second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Q. Can a person with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) get the vaccine?

A. Yes, they can after consulting with their doctor.
