The Dubai Health Authority has announced the provision of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for designated categories of residents and citizens across the emirate. In its announcement, the Authority has stated that the COVID-19 vaccine booster dose can be taken six months after receiving the second vaccine dose.

According to the Authority, eligible categories include people aged 60 years old and above; patients in a long-term care setting aged 18 and above; and individuals aged 50-59 with chronic diseases.

The announcement has come in line with the recent emergency use approval given by the UAE authorities to Pfizer-BioNTech and Sputnik vaccines for booster doses.
