Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, recently inaugurated the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital in Ajman to support the ongoing efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital has been launched as part of the initiative launched by the UAE leadership to establish several field hospitals across the country. In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the hospital has been established by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Department of Health-Abu Dhabi (DoH).
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Sheikh Ammar underlined that the UAE leadership has undertaken various strategies and plans in response to the Coronavirus pandemic and to curb the spread of the virus. Affirming that these pandemic-related measures have achieved positive results, he noted that citizens and residents have been offered necessary healthcare services and resources in the form of field hospitals, public and private hospitals, clinics, and health centers across the country.
Sheikh Ammar further stated that appropriate efforts have been taken to ensure that the highest levels of protection are provided to citizens and residents, along with timely detection of infections by undertaking the required procedures. These efforts have helped inefficiently curbing the spread of the virus in the UAE, he added.
The Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital in Ajman is spread across an area of 7,000-square meters and is equipped with more than 200 beds, including 48 ICU beds and 156 beds for severe and moderate cases of COVID-19. The hospital is manned by 75 doctors, 231 nurses, 44 assistant health workers, and technicians to protect the patients from any illnesses.
While inaugurating the hospital, Sheikh Ammar noted that field hospitals are being established around the UAE in line with the keenness of the UAE’s leadership to provide a world-class experience to all patients in need. He noted that these hospitals are being equipped with modern state-of-the-art equipment to meet the needs of patients, stressing that people must follow a comprehensive and unified strategy in order to reflect on the UAE’s readiness to tackle any possible risks. These efforts are also aimed at efficiently implementing the necessary precautionary measures.
"Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman supports the establishment of the field hospital and instructed local government departments to provide the necessary resources," he added.
Sheikh Ammar and his delegation also took a tour of the hospital when they were briefed about the strategies, nature of work, and various facilities provided by the medical team.
In conclusion, he said that the field hospital has been established as part of the efforts of the field teams from relevant authorities responsible for countering the COVID-19 pandemic in the UAE.
