In line with the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the UAE, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) has launched the "Your Data, Your Identity" digital initiative with the aim of updating the personal information of citizens and residents in the Emirate.
As per FAIC officials, under the ‘Your data, your identity’ initiative, the authority will collect relevant personal information about every individual in the country in a bid to create an online database to help hospitals and medical centres in the country. At the same time, other sectors will also be able to access the data.
Brigadier Murshid Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Population Data and official spokesperson of the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship announced the launch of the initiative at a UAE government briefing on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the first phase of the initiative will start on Wednesday and will continue for a month. During the first phase, every citizen between the age of 18 and 60 are required to update their personal data as well as information of their family members as well.
Residents will be asked to registers themselves in the next phase at a later date. People can update their data both on FAIC’s mobile app or through the authority’s website.
As of Tuesday, the UAE has reported a total of 127,624 COVID-19 infections. So far, there have been a total of 122,458 recoveries from the disease.
This week, the UAE's recovery rate has increased by 18 percent, while its mortality rate has decreased by 45 percent as compared to last week's data. The nationwide testing rate has also increased by 1 percent this week.
