The UAE on Wednesday dispatched an aid plane containing seven metric tonnes of essential medical supplies and COVID-19 testing kits to Argentina in a bid to support the efforts of the county in the fight against the pandemic. The medical aid will provide assistance to approximately 7,000 healthcare professionals in Argentina as they work in the frontline to contain the spread of the virus.
Responding to the aid delivery, Hussain Ali bin HilalAlnaqbi, Charge d'Affairs of the UAE Embassy in Buenos Aires, stated that the UAE and Argentina are connected by strong ties and that the leaderships of both countries have expressed their keenness in strengthening this bilateral relation and foster joint cooperation across various fields.
"The medical aid to Argentina comes against the backdrop of the UAE’s concerted efforts to extend a hand of assistance to friendly countries in support of their efforts to fight COVID-19. The UAE hopes that such aid will contribute to strengthening the capabilities of healthcare professionals in Argentina while providing the necessary protection as they combat the virus," Alnaqbi further said.
To date, the UAE has provided over 1392 metric tons of medical and food aid to 118 countries as part of its humanitarian response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This medical assistance has supported more than 1.3 million medical professionals across the world in their efforts to combat the virus.
