The UAE on Sunday sent a second medical aid plane to Tajikistan in a bid to assist the country in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. The second aid shipment consisted of 12 metric tonnes of essential medical supplies and COVID-19 testing kits, aimed at supporting the efforts of approximately 12,000 medical professionals in Tajikistan as they continue to work to contain the spread of the virus in the country.
Responding to the aid delivery, Ammar Al-Breiki, Charge d'Affaires at the UAE Embassy in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, stated that the UAE has been supporting the development of brotherly relations with friendly countries across the world in line with its leading humanitarian role amid the difficult times of the pandemic crisis.
Significantly, the first aid plane was sent by the UAE to Tajikistan in May 2020 containing 10.5 metric tonnes of emergency medical supplies. These aid shipments are being sent by the UAE as part of its continuous efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between both countries and contribute to the efforts of Tajikistani authorities in combatting the virus and protecting the frontline workers, he added.
To date, the UAE has provided more than 1,498 metric tonnes of medical supplies and food aid to almost 118 countries across the world in line with its humanitarian efforts to support world governments in the fight against the global pandemic. This aid has assisted more than 1.5 million medical professionals globally in the process.
