As the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the UAE has sent an aid plane carrying 10 metric tonnes of medical supplies and testing kits to Mexico. According to news agency WAM, the medical aid will support 10,000 medical professionals in Mexico in their efforts to contain the virus transmission.
Responding to the delivery, Ahmed Hatem Al Menhali, UAE Ambassador to Mexico, laid emphasis on the bilateral ties shared between the two countries. In his remarks, he said that the relations between the UAE and Mexico have developed significantly in recent years with the guidance and support of the leaderships of both countries as they work on developing mutual cooperation in many areas of common interests and welfare of the citizens
"The dispatch of the medical aid plane to Mexico today confirms that the UAE stands by the Mexican people, and supports all medical personnel and provides them with medical tools and supplies in their efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.
So far, the UAE has intensified its humanitarian efforts in response to the COVID-19 crisis by providing over 1079 metric tons of medical and food aid to more than 70 countries. This aid has provided assistance to more than 1 million medical professionals across several countries in their efforts to combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
