COVID-19 response: UAE sends 3rd medical aid plane to Jordan

The United Arab Emirates on Friday sent its third aid plane to Jordan as part of its humanitarian efforts to support the country in the fight against COVID-19. The aid plane consisted of 12 metric tonnes of medical supplies, testing kits and ventilators aimed at assisting over 12,000 medical professionals in Jordan as they work at the forefront to contain the spread of the virus.

Responding to the aid delivery, Ahmed Ali Al Balushi, UAE Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, asserted that the UAE has been making continuous efforts to support the people of Jordan in addressing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that this is the third aircraft sent by the UAE to Jordan carrying medical supplies, screening equipment, and personal protective equipment to support the frontline healthcare professionals in fighting the virus.

"The shipment of medical assistance comes within the brotherly relationship between both countries and their peoples," Al Balushi said.

Earlier, two aid planes carried 27.4 tonnes of medical supplies with the aim of strengthening the efforts of medical workers in Jordan as they work tirelessly in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date, the UAE has sent over 1604 metric tonnes of medical aid and supplies to 119 countries as part of its international response to the pandemic. The medical aid has supported more than 1.6 million medical professionals in the process.
