COVID-19 PCR test must for unvaccinated employees in five businesses: UAE Ministry

As efforts to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic continue across the UAE, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that employees of entities that are operating in five business categories in the country, who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine, will be required to take mandatory PCR testing every 14 days. Starting from March 28, the regulation will apply to businesses operating in the sectors including health, hotels, transport, restaurants, and social and individual activities related to barbershops, laundries, and beauty salons.

Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, has issued a circular in this regard. The circular states that the decision has been taken by the Ministry in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA). Furthermore, the decision has been taken as part of the precautionary measures aimed at limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus, protect the health of all employees and ensure a safe work environment in the country.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has urged all private sector entities to encourage their employees to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease. The Ministry has called on all private sector entities to coordinate with the relevant authorities to ensure that their employees get easy access to the vaccine at government-approved vaccination centres.
