COVID-19: Expo 2020 Dubai removes mandatory wearing of face masks

Amid the ongoing efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai organisers continue to include precautionary measures such as wearing face masks indoors to curtail the spread of the virus.

While event organisers affirmed that wearing face masks is not mandatory at outdoor public areas, visitors and staff members are encouraged to continue following the safety protocol at popular entertainment venues with a large number of people to limit the spread of the virus.

The Expo 2020 organisers stressed prioritising the health and safety of all visitors, participants and staff by complying with stringent safety rules across the event site.

In this regard, all Expo visitors aged 18 and above are required to show either proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative PCR test result taken within the previous 72 hours for entry to the event site. At the same time, on-site safety measures include mask-wearing for visitors, staff and participants as well as PCR testing facilities for Country Pavilion staff, frontline workers, and entertainers.

On January 26, the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced the updated COVID-19 safety protocols in the UAE with the aim of curbing the pandemic and protecting the health and wellbeing of all community members.
