Dubai Economy Director-General Sami Al Qamzi recently launched the ‘Smart Inspection’ project in Deira City Centre with the aim to boost the digital transformation of the emirate. The project has been developed by the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy by deploying the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. It has been launched in line with consistent improvements in processes and procedures initiated by the CCCP sector to improve the investment environment and service quality in the emirate.
After the launch, Al Qamzi carried out an inspection tour with the CCCP team when he tested the new technology. A crucial development in the digital transformation of services and transactions, the project is a significant step particularly amid the efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and related precautionary measures implemented to contain the virus spread.
"Dubai Economy is committed to supporting the emirate’s digital transformation and accelerating adoption of smart measures to improve the quality of services provided to the community," Al Qamzi added.
He termed the Smart Inspection project as an important initiative towards the mitigation of repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that it is in line with the vision and directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop Dubai as the smartest city in the world.
Commenting on the launch of the project, CCCP CEO Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah said that the Smart Inspection project confirms the efforts of the CCCP Sector to reinforce its services and revamp the emirate's work environment. He noted that the project will help in conducting the inspection of shops and commercial establishments without the need for entering a facility or asking its trade license copy.
"The Beacon device in the system can be easily linked to a smart application, enabling inspectors to use the commercial license locations map in the app to access the commercial license data of any shop they pass by," CCCP CEO explained.
As per a WAM report, the Smart Inspection project complements the Dubai Paperless Strategy while representing a crucial step to enhance the quality and efficiency of inspections with the least amount of contact with traders. It is particularly crucial for reviewing copies of permits or licenses and issuing inspection reports. The project also seeks to support the efforts of the authorities to strengthen the commitment and awareness among commercial establishments and help in identifying violations according to geographical locations or commercial entities.
CCCP will also continue to develop the Smart Inspection project by adding more attributes in the next phase. These features will include connecting the Beacon devices with the Dubai Consumer application to ease out the process of filing and following up on consumer complaints, disseminating information related to instructions and educational leaflets phones of consumers and reviewing advertisements and promotions using artificial intelligence (AI) without human interference.
Meanwhile, Dubai Economy has appealed to the public to report any violations of COVID-19 precautionary guidelines using the Dubai Consumer app available on Apple, Google, and Huawei stores, or by calling 600545555, or by visiting the consumerrights.ae website.
