In line with the ongoing efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the UAE, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has announced capping of the operating capacity of services and activities in commercial, economic and tourism sectors in the emirate, with effect from February 7.
These efforts are being made by the committee to strengthen the precautionary measures put in place by the authorities to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the emirate.
As per a WAM report, the committee has approved the capping of operational capacity of shopping malls to 40 percent while hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, public beaches and parks have been asked to function at 60 percent capacity. Buses will operate at 75 percent capacity, while taxis will work at 45 percent. Private beaches and swimming pools are allowed to operate with 50 percent capacity in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 in these public spaces.
At the same time, the committee has shut down all cinema halls and prohibited social gatherings and large parties. The number of people allowed at wedding ceremonies and family gatherings has been capped to 10, while 20 people can attend funerals and mourning services.
The committee has stated that it will carry out intensive inspection and monitoring across all sectors to ensure that all stakeholders are complying with the COVID-19 precautionary measures. It has also noted that any violations in adherence with COVID-19 measures will be immediately reported to the Attorney-General.
