Coronavirus infection rate stands at 1% reveals the UAE govt

In its regular health meeting, the United Arab Emirates made some important announcements regarding the health situation of the country. The announcement included the current statistics provided by the medical establishment, which handles the coronavirus infection in the UAE.

Dr. Omar Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, who is the official spokesperson of the UAE government addressed the media revealing crucial data related to the coronavirus infection from December 2 to December 8, 2020.

The spokesperson said that during the last week, 791,739 tests were conducted all over the country which disclosed 8,688 coronavirus positive cases. But the data also revealed that when compared to the European Union, the rate of infection stands at only one percent. It is also less in comparison to the Middle East and North African region where the infection rate stands at 7.5 percent.

During the span of one week, the total number of recoveries witnessed by the UAE stood at 4,628 and there were in total 20 virus related deaths. This means that the death rate is standing at 0.3 percent, which is the lowest globally.

He further took over questions regarding the virus spread from the public. The first one among these questions was how the coronavirus infection will affect a pregnant woman or how they should deal with the situation.

He answered the question saying that the data available right now does not prove that pregnant women are more prone to contracting the virus or anything of that sort. He asserted that there is no association of the virus to them being pregnant and will not affect the babies.

Taking a question in face masks, he said that though people doubt that wearing face masks may impact the oxygen level and result in accumulation of carbon dioxide it is nothing but a misconception provided they are worn correctly.

He focused on the importance of wearing a face mask saying that wearing the mask protects people from respiratory diseases and being infected with the virus. But he also said that wearing a mask while doing some heavy work out routine may affect one's ability to breathe and lead to breathing difficulties.

Al Hammadi urged people at the end of the meet to adhere to the preventive measures guided by the government and continue to maintain the success achieved by the country since the start of the pandemic.
