The announcement to dedicate all the medical healthcare centres to the elderly people suffering from chronic disease came on Friday by the Ministry of Health and Prevention on a temporary basis.
The decision has been taken in the wake of the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the Emirati nation. The announcement came late at night on February 6 as the officials plan to ensure that through the vaccine roll out, people are ensured of acquired immunity which will further help in containing the spread of the virus.
Apart from this, the ministry also stressed on that administration of vaccines in as many elderly people in the coming four to six weeks. With them, the people suffering from chronic health issues will also be in line of the focus. This decision is taken because this section of the society is the most vulnerable to Covid-19.
Other than these people, others seeking to get vaccination may receive the vaccine shots only after prior appointment with the inoculation centres across the nation. The ministry also made sure to call all those families which have elderly people along with those who have family members suffering from chronic health conditions.
The UAE is already moving ahead of its target. The country has already administered more than four million vaccine shots since it started the vaccination drive last year. The credit for this, said the Ministry of Health And Prevention, goes to the efforts made at the national level to contain the pandemic.
The country made it a point to vaccinate the frontline heroes, the healthcare workers ahead of anyone else. Well aware that their effort matters the most at this point of time, officials made sure that all frontline workers get vaccinated along with all the other officials working in the government and private institutions.
Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, "Crossing the four million mark adds to the UAE's track record and comes as part of the country's keenness to provide vaccines to all members of the society.”
