The Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) Health Fund Office has entered a collaboration with UAE charities and provided humanitarian aid to patients with financial hurdles in 2020. The aid is worth AED216 million.
Patients from over 50 countries who were facing financial difficulties had received aid from DHA’s Health Fund Office.
Salim Bin Lahej, Head of the Health Fund Office at the DHA, said that the authority assisted patients in need through its humanitarian work even during the pandemic. Through its Mosada (assistance) program, “Save a Heart” initiative, voluntary clinics at Latifa Hospital, and various other initiatives, the authority was able to successfully reach out to thousands of beneficiaries.
He said that the Health Fund Office, in partnership with the DHA’s Pharmaceutical Services Department provided free medicine through home delivery services to patients with chronic ailments including MS, heart disease, cancer, and kidney ailments. 751 patients received medicines and medical equipment worth over AED178.2 million.
The Mosada program helped provide medical aid worth AED19.6 million to 1517 patients, he added.
He further said that in collaboration with Noor Dubai Foundation, 18 patients benefitted from aid worth AED453,410.
Bin Lahej added that as part of the “Save a Heart” initiative, aid worth AED1.5 million was given to 63 patients.
Over 15 patients suffering from chronic kidney ailments were provided with aid worth AED219,000. Under the volunteer clinic initiative, 30 patients were provided with aid worth AED607,000.
Bin Lahej highlighted that during the Holy Month of Ramadan in 2020, DHA’s Health Fund Office distributed 21,000 free meals to blue-collar workers and security staff who were working across its facilities along with Bait Al Khair Society and the Roads and Transport Authority. These free meals were worth nearly AED320,000.
Bin Lahej extended thanks to all the strategic partners who supported the humanitarian initiatives including the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, and other charities and philanthropists.
