Abu Dhabi: Wedding party hosts, guests face legal action for violating COVID-19 precautionary norms

A groom, his father and the father of the bride have been referred to the Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Prosecution by the Abu Dhabi Police for violating COVID-19 precautionary guidelines issued by the UAE authorities. As per reports, the three persons recently hosted a wedding reception at their house which violated the Attorney General's Resolution No. 38 for 2020 on enforcement of the list of fines and penalties issued in view of the efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

While the groom, his father and the bride’s father have been referred to the Prosecution, other guests of the reception ceremony will be facing legal action.

As per the list of penalties, an AED10,000 fine will be imposed on a person who invites or organises social gatherings, private and public celebrations, meeting, or is present in groups at public places or private farms. On the other hand, guests attending the party will also be facing an AED5,000 fine.

In light of the incident, the Abu Dhabi Police has appealed to the people to strictly follow the Attorney General's Resolutions related to social distancing norms and family gatherings, along with adhering to the necessary preventive guidelines and safety measures issued by the authorities to contain the spread of Coronavirus across the country.
