Abu Dhabi updates entry border rules from Saturday amid Covid-19 pandemic

Border rules for entering Abu Dhabi were updated on Friday evening and will be effective Saturday onwards. Residents are required to get a negative PCR or DPI test result 48 hours prior to entry as per the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority. According to new regulations the prior regulation that the laser test is no longer accepted alone, and has to be accompanied with a negative PCR test, has now been updated.

Abu Dhabi government media office tweeted, “Starting Saturday, September 5th, residents and visitors can enter the emirate of Abu Dhabi within 48 hours of receiving a negative PCR or DPI test result. DPI test results no longer require a prior PCR test.”

“Residents and visitors who stay for six consecutive days or more within Abu Dhabi emirate must now take a PCR test on the sixth day of each visit, in order to protect the health and safety of the community.”

The price fixed for rapid tests is Dh50 and for PCR swab is Dh370. The entry restrictions into Abu Dhabi have been in place since June 2 to curb the spread of coronavirus infection. A permit was required earlier for people to enter under some circumstances.
