The Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disaster committee Thursday announced updated safety rules for unvaccinated people seeking to enter tourist attractions, cultural sites and events in the emirate.
As per the updated protocols, unvaccinated people in Abu Dhabi are allowed to enter public places in the capital by presenting a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued in the past 48 hours of visiting the venues.
Previously, Abu Dhabi authorities said that unvaccinated people are allowed to only access supermarkets and pharmacies in the emirate. Furthermore, entry to public places was only allowed for vaccinated people who were also asked to maintain green status on their Al Hosn app by undergoing frequent COVID-19 PCR testing.
However, the updated measures permit unvaccinated people to access public places in Abu Dhabi if they present a negative PCR test result issued within 48 hours of visiting the locations.
Recently, Abu Dhabi authorities updated the COVID-19 safety measures for pupils in the emirate allowing them to remove their face masks during playtime in outdoor spaces.
The move was welcomed by many parents and school authorities after months of restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Education regulations have also scrapped quarantine for close contacts in schools.
As per old rules, face masks were mandatory in all areas and close contacts in schools were asked to follow remote learning protocols for at least 10 days.
Significantly, the new rules allow pupils in Year 2 to remove face masks while playing outside. However, they must still wear face masks and maintain social distancing while indoors in schools.
