Abu Dhabi opens centre to provide COVID-19 vaccines for children

Abu Dhabi has opened a new healthcare centre with the aim of providing COVID-19 vaccination to children. Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) announced that the Ettihad Heroes Healthcare Centre has been set up at the same location as the previous Al Ettihad Centre. Staffed with highly-professional doctors and nurses, the Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 11 am until 8 pm.

The centre will be providing COVID-19 vaccinations to children aged between 3 and 16 years old starting this week.

The centre is working in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority.

Speaking about the new centre, Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, chief operations officer of Ambulatory Health Services at Seha, stated that the Ettihad Heroes Healthcare Centre has been launched as part of the authority's mission to ensure the highest standards of quality healthcare for all.

“Through increasing the number of Covid-19 vaccines administered to children, we believe this will strengthen and further enhance the current efforts made by the UAE in protecting our community and paving the road to recovery," she added.

Furthermore, the Centre will be administering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to children aged 12 years and over. At the same time, children between 3 and 16 years can also take the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

Earlier, the UAE approved the Sinopharm vaccine for children aged 3 years and above as well as the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children 5 years and over.

A large number of children aged between 12 and 17 in the UAE have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 after approval from healthcare authorities.
