Abu Dhabi Extends Health Insurance Fine Exemption Till January 2

Abu Dhabi's healthcare regulator, the Department of Health (DoH), has extended the late fee exemption period for individual health insurance subscribers until January 2, 2022, with the aim of ensuring continuous access to services for all residents in the emirate.

With this development, Abu Dhabi's health insurance subscribers have until January 2 to acquire new health insurance as well as renew an expired subscription.

The health regulator has added that people failing to acquire or renew their health insurance till the extended period will be penalised with a Dh300 monthly fine. There can be other pending fines as well.

The DoH further underlined that individuals who are self-sponsored, such as domestic workers, dependents and parents, are not required to meet the deadline.

The health regulator has affirmed the continuity of its services for all residents across Abu Dhabi. Earlier, DoH launched various initiatives and exemptions to ensure that all community members have access to health insurance policies. In this regard, the department has called on all urged residents to contact any licensed health insurance company in Abu Dhabi and avail the benefit of the exemption period.
