H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had a phone call on Friday with the Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato` Seri Hishammudin Hussein. The diplomats discussed the prospects of strengthening and further advancing cooperation between the friendly nations.
During the phone call the diplomats agreed for a short meeting and to establish joint teams that would be driving the cooperation in sectors including economy, investment, food security, trade and education.
The leaders had discussions on variety of mutual topics of interest – one such topic was the global fight against Covid-19. The diplomats discussed sharing of knowledge regarding combating the pandemic and also exchanging expertise to help apply ground-breaking techniques that would help develop vaccine. The leaders stressed on the importance of enhancing cooperation between friendly countries and improve synergy at a global level that would be useful in containing the virus and its effect on sectors including health and economy.
Sheikh Abdullah also noted the importance of historic and strategic relations between the two countries and the determination of their leaderships to further enhance cooperation across various fields. He highlighted the special relations between the UAE and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and stressed on further partnerships between the two countries.
