218 drive-thru vaccination facilities for Covid-19 to be established across UAE

Drive-thru Covid-19 vaccination facilities will soon be launched through collaboration between Ministry of Health and Prevention, and Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. The efforts are to enable vaccinating over 50% of UAE’s population during first quarter of 2021.


Vaccination centres will be established outside Abu Dhabi where people can drive-thru in existing testing centres and receive the vaccine. They will be managed by the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Services (SEHA).


Free vaccine for Covid-19 will be offered at 218 health centres and facilities across the UAE where all eligible residents and citizens can get vaccinated.


The collaboration will support country’s national vaccination campaign that has goal of maintain health and safety and boosting immunity of all people of the country.


Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention said, “Vaccination is the safest and most effective way to curb the spread of Covid-19 and ensure the health and safety of our community. By joining forces with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, we are accelerating the goal of inoculating 50% of the country’s eligible population with the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of March. With guidance and support from our wise leadership, vaccination is our choice to triumph over the virus and recover as soon as possible.”


Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said, “The Covid-19 vaccines have undergone rigorous scientific and regulatory processes to ensure their safety, efficacy and quality. I encourage everyone to choose to vaccinate, without hesitation, to protect themselves and the health of our nation.”


The Covid-19 vaccine includes two shots which are to be given 21-28 days apart. As of 19 January, 2,065,367 vaccine doses have been administered across UAE. Vaccine distribution rate of 20.88 per 100 persons.
